About The Author 

Mike Prior is a retired business executive with an extensive background in the application of bottom line improvement practices.  Upon retirement, he felt the need to stay busy and, at the same time, somehow give back to his community.  Driving a school bus in town presented the best option and he quickly determined that there was not only an opportunity to transport local kids to and from school, but there was also an opportunity to address a local, yet nation-wide transportation system dilemma.  A system that, he feels, is about to go through significant change.  

The main focus of this book are the kids, his kids, and making sure that processes that are in place are effectively managed.  The focus of this book also focuses on managing and maintaining a school  transportation system that will effectively allow the school bus driver to accomplish his or her tasks effectively.  Ongoing manpower (driver) issues, introducing and transitioning to the latest technology, addressing the ever-present and ongoing issue of funding constraints, and of course safety are only a few of the issues that the system faces today.  Much has been said and done that will address future needs, but what about TODAY?  This book offers some historical background, heartfelt stories and practical advice for anyone interested in understanding the unique challenges and rewards of transporting children to and from school each day.
